The September Challenge is the shorter sibling of the traditional May Bike to Work Challenge. It lasts two weeks and is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to extend the cycling season, add a little more movement to their daily routine, or simply see what it’s like to leave the car at home and get to work or school another way.
The challenge runs from 14 to 27 September, overlapping with European Mobility Week, which takes place every year from 16 to 22 September and highlights sustainable ways of getting around our cities. It promotes safe walking, cycling, quality public transport, shared mobility and better use of public space.
You can sign up for the September Challenge as an individual or as part of a team. The entry fee is CZK 150 per person, which your employer can also cover for you. As part of your registration, you will also receive credit worth the same amount to spend in AutoMat’s benefits e-shop.
After that, all you need to do is cycle, walk or run for two weeks and log your journeys in the Bike to Work Challenge system. The aim is not to cover as many kilometres as possible. The challenge is primarily about consistency, both for individuals and teams.
Participants can also make use of codes for shared bikes from Nextbike, Lime and Rekola. Successful participants will be rewarded with vouchers for the 2027 May Bike to Work Challenge.
The September Challenge is a reminder that sustainable transport doesn’t stop when the summer holidays end. The late-summer weather is a perfect opportunity to keep getting around by bike, on foot or at a run — or to try this kind of everyday travel for the first time.
Challenge your colleagues, family, neighbours or friends and take part together. Or sign up on your own this year. What matters is not speed or the number of kilometres, but consistency.
