Urban cycling portal
Městem na kole is a Czech online magazine about bicycle transport. The beginnings of this magazine go back to the map and the Prague by bike blog, but it gradually outgrew the borders of the capital and began to bring information from elsewhere as well. It is an information and assistance center and a source of news for everyone who uses a bicycle as a means of transport, or would like to start doing so.
Navštívím Městem na kole
Městem na kole brings information from the world of urban cycling. He follows what is happening in Prague, the Czech Republic and abroad. It informs about new improvements in the terrain, points of interest, events in municipalities and associations, and invites to cycling events. It brings inspiration and confrontation with events abroad. It tries to actively involve readers in the decision-making process on important matters concerning the future of cities. It monitors politicians and other media.
The main goal of City by Bike is to popularize bicycle transportation. It is a gathering place of good and bad examples from the Czech Republic and abroad. It is a forum for opinions to move urban mobility forward. It perceives the world in context and therefore does not neglect other methods of sustainable and active transport in its articles.
City on a bike is an independent news and information project of the AutoMat association. Its independence from other activities of the AutoMat initiative is guaranteed by the editor-in-chief, who is not a member of the AutoMat internal team.
Support independent reporting on cycling
An editorially independent magazine about bicycle transport also needs a reliable financial background. Only then can it truly independently and reliably cover events in the field of bicycle transport in Prague, the Czech Republic and abroad. Can you help us? Please consider especially regular donations that allow us to work long-term and conceptually.
A smart map for urban cycling
The routes in our map are not a fantasy, but the daily experience of dozens of cyclists who contribute to the map and help improve the routes. Our map is built on the open OpenStreetMap platform, where everyone can participate in the creation and improvement of the map. Our map provides a detailed altitude chart, as well as detailed information about cycling infrastructure and closures. Only here you will find out what type of cycle lane runs through the street, or whether the street is paved or asphalt.
