The European Commission’s initiative aims to draw attention to problems in transport and support sustainable mobility in cities and towns. Thousands of cities regularly participate in the event on the European continent, and in the Czech Republic, the capital Prague, Brno and Olomouc are among the dozens of participants. The event, which has been announced since 2002, calls on cities and municipalities to dedicate themselves to sustainable urban transport during the week of September 16 to 22. In the Czech Republic, a number of organizations and cities are also involved with their actions to support sustainable and active mobility. In the Czech Republic, a total of 37 cities are participating in the event this year, but it is of course likely that the event will be affected or canceled in some places due to the current flood situation. On Sunday, September 22, the event culminates with International Car Free Day.
